Background to Survey

Brisbane Off-Road Riders Alliance (BORRA) was born out of a need to project a strong, consistent advocacy voice for mountain biking and other forms of off-road riding - focused on Brisbane. In May 2019, the founders of BORRA rallied the troops to help save several more challenging trails at Gap Creek.

With a 6,000 signature strong petition and hundreds of letters to council, people power turned around plans to obliterate trails and we started prompting Brisbane City Council (BCC) to re-think the way it was approaching planning the future of Off-Road Cycling in Brisbane. In September 2019, BORRA became an incorporated not-for profit association and got formally engaged in a conversation with BCC.

Off-Road Riding explodes

Since then outdoor activity and off-road road riding has exploded with COVID-19 contributing to a 200% increased in sales of bikes across the country, and many neighboring jurisdictions announcing plans to invest in mountain biking-related projects. We strongly believe that council needed to go back to the drawing board because the survey and community engagement work done in February 2019 has limited relevance today.

We understand that the next stage of consultation for the Brisbane Off-Road Cycling Plan (BORC) is imminent, so we are interested in hearing your views about what you need out of off-road cycling in Brisbane. To help inform the BORRA committee response to BCC, we would like to invite you to take part in this short survey .

To say thank you for taking part, you could win 1 of 5 prizes - your choice of a BORRA Cap or Ride Jersey.

Thank you in advance for completing the survey and assisting BORRA to better represent the mountain biking and off-road riding community in Brisbane.
