BCC Councillor Tracy Davis ignores community, dodging questions about investment in mountain biking

We asked Councillor Tracy Davis, Chair of council's EPS committee to detail the investment in mountain biking in previous years vs how much has been spent on other off-road activities. The response is similar to every other petition put to Brisbane City Council about mountain biking, dirt jumps or BMX - effectively dodging questions by highlighting a strategy or concept paper.  BCC has produced a dozen studies over the past 20 years (over 1,100 pages of paper) with very little to show for it on the ground.

BORRA recognises the great work done by the Mt Coot-tha Trailcare Program (maintenance of the legacy 24km trail network at Mt Coot-tha), noting that the budget for this program is around $200,000 - just over a quarter of the $744,000 allocated to an 'Off-Road Cycling Project' in 2023/24 (this isn't news - it was listed in the budget released in July.)

We are calling for some transparency of what the rest of the  project budget is spent on and the rationale for not spending it on expanding the type of off-road cycling that council itself highlights as the most popular - single track mountain biking.  BCC needs to come clean on this topic before the March 16 election, and explain why investment in mountain biking is being ignored.
